Alliance for a Clean Texas Action Alert, March 31, 2017

Submitted by Sean on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 18:00

Dear Alliance for Clean Texas Friend,

So many bills, so little time. We so appreciate the efforts you have made so far during this session to contact Texas legislators – we will continue to need your help as the pace of hearings and votes picks up.

Mark your calendar for an ACT lobby day on April 25. We will discuss the ACT lobby day and other bills on our weekly conference call this Sunday, April 2 at 5:30 pm.

In the meantime, please take action on the following bills at your earliest convenience as they are all up on Monday with votes soon to follow in hearing.

ACTION 1 – Reject SB 225 by Taylor which would fast track surface water permits and limit public participation. This bill will be heard in Agriculture, Water and Rural Affairs Monday afternoon. Click here to learn more and email the Senate Committee members now.

ACTION 2 – Reject HB 2662 by Landgraf which would expand the dumping of lower radioactive waste in Andrews county. This bill will be heard on Tuesday in the House Environmental Regulation Committee. Click here to learn more and send a message.

ACTION 3 Support these bills to strengthen the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC). Two name change bills are up for hearing in the Energy Resources Committee this Monday. HB 237 by Anchia changes the name of the RRC to the Texas Energy Resources Commission while HB 642 by Phillips renames the agency to the Texas Energy Commission. Both bills better reflect the agency’s role in regulating the oil and gas industry.

HB 247 by Anchia will also be heard in the same committee requiring the RRC to get searchable data of complaints, enforcement, and penalties online. Support all of these committee bills: click here for the contact information of the House Energy Resources Committee.

Continue to access the bills you care about at on the “My Texas Legislature” website. For more information, email
